| The Work Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre
NADA from Karlovac is a an establishment for accommodation of
persons suffering from permanent mental disabilities. Mental
abnormalities, in general terms, encompasses all which does
not fall into the quantitative area of mentally average or normal.
Deviation from such standards can, in its intensity, reach such
proportions that it gains quality psychotic characteristics,
meaning that the status of mentally abnormal becomes that of
an illness.
Mental illnesses which are not curable or
those for which the duration cannot be set beforehand, are
regarded as permanent. Persons having permanent mental illnesses,
regardless of the cause, cannot live by themselves due to
their inability to function socially without continual support,
health and social care. For that reason, they are given into
care of special establishments.
The Work Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre
NADA is such an establishment.
The Karlovac establishment
has several floors, it is a monolithic building with total
usable area of 2,502.60 m2, divided into four units; the ground
floor and three upper floors. Situated on the ground floor
of the building are basic common facilities - the kitchen,
boiler room, dining room, living room, laundry room, work
therapy area, offices, doctor's office, and several rooms.
Upper floors contain rooms with common sanitation systems
(four per each floor), a doctor's office, and spiralling emergency
staircase on all three floors. The floors are connected by
an elevator and a staircase. Total capacity of the establishment
is: 44 four-bed rooms and 9 two-bed rooms, therefore the establishment
can accommodate a maximum of 194 persons. The area is surrounded
by a steel fence 200 cm high. The establishment is 100% privately
owned by Mrs. Kornelija Videc, who has an MA in special education
and 28 years working experience (14 of those on managerial
position).
The Vojniæ branch is a business
complex of buildings constructed in a town called Vojniæ,
at the address of Donji Vojniæ 2a.
The complex is made up of the main building and supplementary
buildings, such as the power station, gas station and airation
pools. The main building is made up of the floor level and
one floor.
The ground floor contains a dining room, a kitchen, laundry
room, boiler room, toilets/washrooms,
dispensaries, the reception and rooms for momentary occupants/users.
The floor houses more rooms, a
dispensary, toilets/washrooms and supplementary rooms. The
total net object area is 2,737.85 m2. Floors
are connected with a lift and a staircase.
The total branch capacity is 37 triple-bed rooms, 6 four-bed
rooms and 8 five-bed rooms, or, altogether
capacity for 175 persons. The land is surrounded by a 200
cm high fence.
The branch is 100% privately owned by Mrs. Kornelija Videc,
with MA in special education and 28 years of work experience
(of those 14 years on management positions).
The establishment employs the following staff
taking care of patients: general practice physicians, psychiatrists,
graduate social workers, special education staff, working
therapy personnel, a senior nurse, medical technicians and
care-takers (nurses), cooks, serving staff, and maids.
